2012 N.B.A Draft Profiles: John Henson
- Updated: June 16, 2012
N.B.A Comparison: Marcus Camby
Measurements: 6 Feet 10 Inches; 216 Pounds; 7 Foot 5 Inch Wingspan
If shot blocking and excellent defensive awareness is what you need, then John Henson is your guy. With a 7’5 wingspan, impeccable timing and a high level of athleticism, Henson is probably the 3rd best defensive prospect in this draft (behind MKG and Anthony Davis). His talents include an ever improving mid-range jumper and steadily extending to the 3-point arc, good leaping ability, recording a 3o inch vertical leap at the N.B.A draft combine and a reasonably high ceiling. The cons that scouts have observed is his lack of strength. At just 216 pounds, Henson has to build more muscle to with stand the pounding that happens at the power forward/center positions in the pros. He also has a fairly raw back to the basket game that needs to be refined if he wants to have sustained success at the next level. One thing that will undoubtedly translate to the N.B.A is his shot blocking ability which, is his primary draw to any team that decides to choose him.
