BREAKING: Colts trade first-round pick for Trent Richardson

INDIANAPOLIS– On a day where owner Jim Irsay said that there would be a huge trade, there was a huge trade. Via Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Indianapolis Colts have traded a first-round pick in exchange for Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson. Richardson is coming off a rookie campaign in which he rushed for 950 yards and 9 touchdowns, and the Colts were desperate for help at that position.

Irsay’s tweet had many wondering, and what a shock he made.

The Colts were in need of help at running back after last year’s leading rusher Vick Ballard was lost for the season with a torn ACL, and although veteran Ahmad Bradshaw was brought in, Richardson brings stability to the running back position for years to come in Indianapolis.

The Browns have now acquired two picks in rounds 1, 3, and 4 in the 2014 NFL Draft.

A shocking trade for sure, as the Colts now have the number one and number three overall picks in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Update: The Browns will bring in free-agent running back Willis McGahee for a physical following this trade. This according to ESPN
