Doug Martin

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ horrendous season continued on Sunday not only with their sixth consecutive loss, but now lost their premier back for the season. Reports out of Tampa are that running back Doug Martin is believed to have a torn shoulder labrum and will be out for the rest of the season.

Coming into the season, the Buccaneers started Josh Freeman at quarterback and Martin at running back, now Freeman is starting for the Minnesota Vikings and Martin, is out for the year. Through six games, in what has been a much disappointing season for “Muscle Hamster” he had a total of 456 yards rushing and only one touchdown. In 2012, his rookie season, Martin rushed for 1,454 yards and 11 touchdowns, while adding 472 yards receiving and one touchdown.

Mike James filled in for Martin and carried the ball 11 times for 45 yards, there is a possibility that the team will look to sign a free agent running back.

Among notable free agents are: Cedric Benson, Beanie Wells, Joe McKnight, Michael Turner, Khalil Bell, and Tim Hightower.

Just in: The Titans are expected to cut Darius Reynaud, who could be in another option for Tampa Bay.
