Magic Johnson

Recently, new Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers decided to cover the Lakers championship banners. Rivers, who won an NBA championship with the Boston Celtics brings a winning attitude to the Clippers franchise who has struggled and play the role of the redheaded step-child to the Lakers and their 16 championships. While covering the banners created some controversy within the Staples Center’s two teams, there might be more controversy coming. Laker great Magic Johnson, who is part of the Los Angeles Dodgers ownership group, won five NBA Championships with the Lakers, so Doc Rivers is covering up his work.

Problem for Lakers fans is? Magic Johnson doesn’t mind it.

Before Laker Nation decides to start harassing Johnson with angry tweets, he backed his former team and their titles.

It’s a tale of two teams headed in two opposite directions as the Lakers await the return of Kobe Bryant and look for other contributors, the Clippers make a case for one of the top teams in the Western Conference. With Doc Rivers looking to install a winning attitude, covering up the championships won by the Lakers, is just one of many steps.
