Heat defeat Clippers behind Wade’s 29 points

MIAMI- It was, a vintage Dwyane Wade show as the Heat hosted the Clippers on Thursday.

Wade’s 29 points, 11 of which came in the fourth quarter, led the way as the Clippers collapsed yet again, and now fall to a two-game losing streak. LeBron James added 18 points of his own to go along with 5 rebounds, and 6 assists while the Heat improved to 4-2 on the season.

The Heat started the game off slow, which has been a current trend of this team to start the 2013-14 NBA season but got a nice beginning lift from Chris Bosh. Bosh was playing in his first game of the week, as he missed the team’s game on Tuesday while his wife delivered their child earlier in the week.

In the second half as the Clippers collapsed, it was Shane Battier’s defense, and taking charges that propelled this team to a comeback. Ray Allen added 12 points of his own off the bench, but failed to register a three-point field goal. However, this night belonged to Dwyane Wade. His 11  fourth-quarter points came in the most opportunistic moments when Los Angeles seemed to be inching back, Wade struck.

For the Clippers, Blake Griffin led the way with 27 points and 14 rebounds, including a three-point field goal of his own. Point guard Chris Paul registered his sixth consecutive double-double of the season, as he has had one in every game this year. Paul’s sixth game of 10 assists or more to start a season is also the second longest stretch of the season, with his career high being 7 straight games. He also took responsibility for the loss:

“It was me making bad decisions,” Paul said. “I have to trust my teammates. I just played a bad game. I have to get the ball out of my hands.” (ESPN.com)

The Clippers fall to 3-3 on the season, with all three losses coming on the road.
