Peyton Manning to undergo MRI on Monday

Manning will not know the extent of his injury until after an MRI on Monday.

DENVER- Denver Broncos’ quarterback Peyton Manning will undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury he received late in Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers, according to ESPN.

With a little over a minute left to play, Manning was hit hard and low (just above the knees), in a tackle attempt made by Chargers’ defensive end Corey Liuget. Following the hit, Manning did stay in the game, although banged up, to ride out the rest of the Bronco’s 28-20 victory.

“I’m pretty sore,” Manning told reporters, according to SI.com. “They kind of got me twice in that lower area. [I'll] get an MRI tomorrow and will know more then.”

Although Manning would not explicitly state which part of his body was injured, saying he felt an injury report to could “very revealing to the opponent,” according to ESPN, he did say his lower body was the problem.

ESPN reported Manning said Broncos’ doctors informed him, upon entering the locker room after the game, that he would be having an MRI Monday.” It’s just what the docs said, and I had one a couple weeks ago,” he said. “And so took a couple hits today, so just kind of update to see what it says. Hopefully it’s no change.”

Manning, who completed 25 of 36 passes, for a total of 330 yards and 4 touchdowns, said he hopes the injury will not be something he has to deal with for the rest of the season. With an important game versus the still undefeated Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday, the 8-1 Broncos have to hope Manning is as healthy as possible.

According to SI.com, when asked how he felt about playing against the Chiefs, Manning said “I certainly plan on it.”
