Report: Celtics Willing To Take Amar’e Stoudemire

New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire is making $21 million this season, while averaging 10.5 minutes per game through six games. Stoudemire has undergone three knee surgeries in the last two seasons. Stoudemire is owed a total of $45 million through the 2014-15 season, and although he’s been shopped around the league, no team has shown interest. That could all be changing:

While there is no official word on a trade in the works, if the Knicks were to acquire either player, they would rid themselves of a huge contract in Stoudemire, from a guy who has lost a majority of his athleticism. Gerald Wallace is set to make $10+ million a season through the 2015-16 season.

Courtney Lee is set to make $5+ milion through the 2015-16 season. The trade would give the Knicks a longer situation with either player, but also give them a player or two who have some energy in their tank. The Knicks reportedly were interested in point guard Rajon Rondo but Chris Broussard says the Celtics “have every intention of keeping Rondo”.
