Ronda Rousey Lands Two Movie Roles

Leading up to defending her UFC women’s bantamweight title at UFC 168 December 28, champion Ronda Rousey was also filming and being cast in The Expendables 3 and Fast & Furious 7 while training for her fight. Now, the current champion is not only ready to return to the big screen, but land a huge role as well.

Variety.com is reporting that Rousey is in the final stages of negotiations with Warner Bros. studio to star in Athena Project, a movie based on the New York Times bestseller from Brad Thor. In addition, she is also being tapped for a female lead role in the upcoming Entourage movie.

Rousey is currently training to defend her title against Sara McMann at UFC 170 February 22 in Las Vegas. According to variety.com, she will begin filming her role in Entourage around mid-March.

Landing a star role in Athena Project, Rousey could be given an opportunity to work in a movie franchise and perhaps the chance to become the female action star Hollywood is lacking. Sources familiar with the situation say Rousey fell in love with the book and attached herself with Thor, putting her in position to be a part of the film before it was being discussed.

UFC President Dana White tweeted his congratulations on the news about Rousey’s upcoming film roles:

Rousey is repped by WME.
