The Phoenix Suns have plenty of hope in the potential in 7-foot center, Alex Len, who they selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2013 Draft, and Len has a message for everyone. Len is currently the only Ukraine player in the NBA, and with all the chaos taking place with Ukraine and Russia, Len has stepped outside of basketball, but is sending a message through his game. When Len takes the court Thursday night, he will be wearing shoes with #PrayForUkraine written on them.

Len told Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic the following:

“If you watch American news, they say one thing. If you watch Ukrainian news, they say another thing. In my home, I have a Russian channel and they say a totally different thing. It’s politics, so I don’t know what’s really going on. I pray for Ukraine. I want peace.”

It’s an eye-opening and heartwarming movement for Len to do, but it also shows how personable and real these players can be. Len’s not only a basketball player, but he’s a Ukraine basketball player, using his game to send a message for peace. It may be a small and hidden message, but it’s a powerful one.
