Nick Saban: “Passing on A.J. McCarron would be huge mistake”

AJ McCar

When you look at the quarterbacks in the 2014 NFL Draft Class, A.J. McCarron comes after the likes of Blake Bortles, Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater, and even Derek Carr. But if you ask Alabama head coach Nick Saban, who has made a dynasty out of the Crimson Tide football program, for teams who pass up McCarron, they’ll be making a big mistake.

Saban spoke to ESPN’s Michele Steele on his former quarterback:

“I think anybody that doesn’t take A.J. in one of those earlier rounds is going to make a huge mistake, because I think he’s going to be a very, very good player. First of all, he has all the athletic talent to make all the throws that he needs to make at the next level. Guys who can make quick decisions, process the information and throw the ball accurately are the guys that usually end up being pretty good NFL quarterbacks.”

McCarron also said in his Pro Day that he feels he is the best quarterback in this year’s draft class. It’s good that both Saban and McCarron have confidence in his pro abilities, some team will surely draft him, now he just needs his chance to prove his worth.
