Ozzie Newsome has been the General Manager for the Baltimore Ravens since their existence in 1996 and rightfully so.

Year after year he has continued to put the Ravens into contention in the brutally tough AFC North with great drafts and superb free agent signings, as well as playing the market so well it always ends up working out.

Today it’s official that the Baltimore Ravens have resigned LB Darryl Smith to a 4 year deal for $16.1M according ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NBCSports.com

Smith had the hardest job on defense last year coming from Jacksonville to replace the immortal Ray Lewis and he performed admirably although the team finished 8-8.

The team has also restructured the deal of All-Pro OLB Terrell Suggs, resigned TE Dennis Pitta and WR Jacoby Jones but the team has lost DT Arthur Jones to the Colts and keeping Smith was a priority.

As of now S James Ihedigbo is still on the market and according to the Flint Journal could be heading to the Detroit Lions.

In my latest mock draft I had the Baltimore Ravens selecting USC WR Marquise Lee as the slot man who can open up some deep routes for Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones.
