Report: 49ers sign WR Brandon Lloyd to one-year deal

Brandon Lloyd

After sitting out the 2013 NFL season, veteran wide receiver Brandon Lloyd signed a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday. Lloyd spent the first three years of his career with the 49ers, who selected him in the fourth-round of the 2003 NFL Draft. Lloyd most recently played with the New England Patriots where he had 74 receptions, 911 yards, and four touchdowns in 2012.

In his first three seasons with San Francisco, Lloyd totaled 105 receptions, for 1,510 yards, and 13 touchdowns. The reunion, confirmed by the 49ers official Twitter account will bring good depth to the team’s receiver position.

Lloyd will likely get a chance to crack the depth chart and see time alongside Anquan Boldin, Michael Crabtree, and Quinton Patton and would even serve as a mentor to the younger receivers on the team.
