Jaguars Earn First Win of the Season

Nashville, TN— Jaguars win a close one 29-27. Yes you just read the sentence right. The Jacksonville Jaguars climbed their selves out of the hole and scraped out a W to avoid the “Detroit Lion” embarrassment, who remain the only win-less team ever.

A lot of talk surrounded the Jaguars on whether or not they would win a game and even if Alabama could beat them in a game.

Maurice Jones-Drew would have none of that as he led the way for the Jaguars as they pulled one out on the road against division rival, Tennessee Titans.

Jones-Drew got the motor going and put a 6 yard run into the end zone to take an early Jaguar lead. Scobee pushed the lead to double-digits with 44 yard boot through the uprights as the Jaguars took a 10-0 lead at the end of one.

Scobee put another one through in the second before Titans answered with a 9 yard connection from Ryan Fitzpatrick to Taylor Thompson. Jaguars went into the half with a 13-7 lead.

Jordan Todman kept the ground game rolling plugging in a 5 yard score to put the Jaguars up 20-7. A Rob Bironas 39 yarder pulled the Titans back within 10 to head into the final quarter.

That is when things got interesting. Another Bironas boot got things going before the Jaguars forced a Titan safety to go up 22-13. Fitzpatrick scrambled in a 4 yard touchdown to pull the Titans within 2 with 2:32 to go.

But the Jaguars who haven’t had anything go their way all season, finally got the ball to bounce their way when Will Blackmon recovered a Titan fumble and took it to the house for 21 yards to secure the first Jaguars victory.

Chad Henne ended the day with 180 yards but had 2 interceptions. Jones-Drew had 41 of the team’s 54 rushing yards and a score. Jones-Drew also hauled in 4 catches for 33 yards.

Fitzpatrick who came in for injured Jake Locker, threw for 264 yards 2 touchdowns. Chris Johnson only managed 30 yards off of 12 carries. Kendall Wright hauled in 7 catches for 78 yards to lead the way for the Titans.

Jacksonville moves to 1-8 and look to continue their winning ways when they welcome the Arizona Cardinals.

The Titans move to 4-5 and have a date with Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts in just a few days in this week’s Thursday night match-up.

Notable Stat

Jaguars scored the most they have all year with 29 points and never trailed. Forced 4 turnovers.
