Syracuse’s Tyler Ennis declaring for NBA Draft

Syracuse freshman point guard Tyler Ennis has decided to forego his final three years and declare for the 2014 NBA Draft. ESPN’s Jeff Goodman first reported Ennis’ decision.

From USA Today, Ennis released a statement today confirming his decision.

“I’d like to thank Coach (Jim) Boeheim, the coaching staff, my teammates and the amazing fans of Syracuse for the opportunity to play at a great university like Syracuse, I feel this experience has helped prepare me to fulfill my lifelong dream – to play in the NBA.” (USA Today)

Ennis averaged 12.9 points per game, 5.5 assists, and 3.4 rebounds for Syracuse this past season, but the Orange were upset by the Dayton Flyers in the round of 32 in this year’s NCAA Tournament. The freshman is projected to be a mid-round first pick by many.
