up 2 hits and striking out 5 Dodgers. Wacha has been the best pitcher this postseason going 21 innings giving up only 8 hits, 1ER and striking out 22 against the Pirates in the NLDS and in 2 games in the NLCS against the Dodgers. Wacha shut down the Dodgers offense in this series and is a key reason the Cardinals will be playing in the World Series against either the Tigers or Red Sox. Wacha won the 2013 NLCS MVP.

Clayton Kershaw one of the best starting pitchers in baseball this season was rocked by the Cardinals bats in the 3rd and 5th innings giving up 7 earned runs in those 2 innings. Kershaw has now lost 4 straight starts against the Cardinals, 2 of those losses coming in this years NLCS. Kershaw threw 48 pitches in the 3rd inning as the Cardinals batted around which was the first time since 2009 that a team has batted around against Kershaw.

The Cardinals benched their starting center fielder Jon Jay today and started Shane Robinson in center and it paid off big as Robinson came up in the 3rd with the bases loaded and hit a 2-run single up the middle to score Molina and Freese.

This will be Carlos Beltran’s first World Series appearance in his 16-year career. Beltran went 3-4 tonight with 2 RBI’s. Beltran drove in the first run of the game after Carpenter led the inning off with a double.

With this win this is now the 4th time in the last 10 years that the Cardinals will be in the World Series, most in the majors. This time last year the Cardinals blew a 3-1 series lead against the Giants and they made sure that it wasn’t going to happen again this season by blowing out the Dodgers.

Game 1 of the World Series will be Wednesday in either Boston or Detroit.
