Lakers give Kobe Bryant two-year extension
- Updated: November 25, 2013
As he makes his return to the court from a torn Achilles, Kobe Bryant has been rewarded with a contract extension according to Arash Markazi
Kupchak: “This is a very happy day for Lakers fans and for the Lakers organization.”
— Arash Markazi (@ArashMarkazi) November 25, 2013
Kupchak: “We’ve said all along our priority and hope was to have Kobe finish his career as a Laker, this should ensure that that happens.”
— Arash Markazi (@ArashMarkazi) November 25, 2013
Kupchak: “To play 20 years in the NBA, and to do so with the same team, is unprecedented, and quite an accomplishment.”
— Arash Markazi (@ArashMarkazi) November 25, 2013
Kupchak: “It assures us that one of the best players in the world will remain a Laker.”
— Arash Markazi (@ArashMarkazi) November 25, 2013
Been saying for awhile that Kobe will play 20 years: 10 years in No. 8, 10 years in No. 24. This deal makes it official.

Keeping Bryant around is something the Lakers made clear they wanted to do, now Bryant and the organization will need to come together and put together a roster looking for one more championship run.
