Jorge De La Rosa named Opening Day starter for Rockies
- Updated: March 13, 2014
Jorge De La Rosa has one season under contract with the Rockies, and if he wants a big deal following this season he’ll have to start from day one. The Colorado Rockies announced that De La Rosa will be the team’s Opening Day starter on March 31 against the Marlins. The Rockies will be in Miami for a four-game series to begin their 2014 season.
As expected, #Rockies name Jorge De La Rosa as opening starter. As wrote last week was obvious choice once Chacin got hurt.

As Troy Renck reported, it was an easy choice for the Rockies after Jhoulys Chacin suffered a right shoulder strain in February. Chacin will likely begin his season on the 15-day Disabled List. In 2013 De La Rosa went 16-6 with a 3.49 ERA and 112 strikeouts in 30 games started.
