Report: Maurice Jones-Drew visiting Raiders
- Updated: March 27, 2014
Free agent running back Maurice Jones-Drew may be headed back home. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport is reporting that MJD will be visiting with the Oakland Raiders today and tomorrow.
Maurice Jones-Drew is visiting the #Raiders tonight and tomorrow, per source. Wow. Could get serious.

True. MJD grew up a #Raiders fan. RT @AdamSchein: @NFLNewshound @RapSheet he cut the grass at john madden’s house growing up. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 27, 2014
Wouldn’t be surprised if things move very quickly between #Raiders & MJD. Still lives in the area. Heard he’s slimmed down considerably too — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 27, 2014
The Jets, Dolphins, Patriots, and Steelers were all reportedly in the mix for MJD as the finalists, but Adam Schefter also reports that the Raiders are a big and real possibility for MJD.
RB Maurice Jones-Drew scheduled to fly to Oakland tonight to visit Raiders Fri. One source said there’s “a good chance” Oakland signs MJD.

The Raiders would be homecoming for Jones-Drew and would also fill a void of running back for Oakland after they lost Rashad Jennings to free agency. MJD isn’t the top back he once was, but it’ll be interesting to see if he or Darren McFadden would be the team’s starter if he elects to sign there.
