According to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports, the Detroit Tigers are close to locking in Miguel Cabrera on a big contract extension. While contract details are currently unknown, Cabrera is currently towards the end of a eight-year $152 million deal that ends after the 2015 season.
The 2-time reigning AL MVP also won the Triple Crown in 2012, and has had back-to-back seasons with 44 home runs. The Tigers and Cabrera have reportedly been working on this deal for a few days now, and pending a physical, will likely get it done soon. Tigers Owner, CEO, and GM Dave Dombrowski had no comment on the report, says Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.
Dombrowski had no comment on report by @JonHeymanCBS that #Tigers are close with Miguel Cabrera on long-term extension.

This all comes after the Tigers went public with the news that pitcher Max Scherzer had declined their contract extension.
