Rocky on Broadway

Rocky, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1976, is now a musical on Broadway. Sylvester Stallone, who wrote the screenplay and starred in the film, is a producer of the new production and co-wrote the book of the musical with Tony winner Thomas Meehan of  Annie and  Hairspray fame. Rocky stars Andy Karl, of The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Jersey Boys, in the title role and Broadway newcomer Margo Seibert as his love interest Adrian. The production has a five-time Tony award-winning team including director Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher), the songwriting team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime), choreographers Kelly Devine (Rock of Ages) and fight choreographer Steven Hoggett (Once).

Rocky will begin previews at the Winter Garden Theater on Broadway February 11, 2014 and officially open March 13, 2014.
