Steve Smith on facing Panthers: “There’s going to be blood and guts everywhere”
- Updated: March 13, 2014
Steve Smith was released by the Panthers on Thursday, and now he’s not holding back on general manager Dave Gettleman. Gettleman played the key role in the releasing of Smith, even so much as saying that Smith was a “distraction” in the locker room, and wanted to turn over the locker room to Cam Newton and Luke Kuechly.
While Smith said that he will always love owner Jerry Richardson and his wife but when it comes to playing the Carolina Panthers, he didn’t hold back during an interview with WFNZ in Charlotte.
“I want to make sure that whatever team I go to, they’re going to get the best, in shape 35-year-old guy they can get. If that happens to run through Bank of America Stadium, put your goggles on cause there’s going to be blood and guts everywhere.”
Smith also took time out to take a shot at Gettleman saying:
“I believe my legacy as a Carolina Panther exceeds one individual for a short amount of time.”
The Baltimore Ravens are the early favorites to land Smith’s services but let Dave Gettleman be on notice, not only does Steve Smith not like you, but he’s coming from revenge in the future.
