Seahawks will not activate Percy Harvin vs Rams
- Updated: October 26, 2013
RENTON, Wash. — Those waiting to see Percy Harvin’s debut with the Seattle Seahawks, will have to keep waiting. Head coach Pete Carroll said Saturday that Harvin will not be activated for Monday Night’s game against the St. Louis Rams.
“He won’t be playing in this game,” Carroll said after practice. “He won’t be able to do it this quick. We’re managing his rehabilitation and trying to do it right. We worked him hard [earlier this week], then we rested him. (ESPN.com)
Harvin is recovering from hip surgery he had on August 1st and is in his first season with the Seahawks after being traded from Minnesota. He signed a six-year $67 million extension once acquired by Seattle. The team has three-weeks to activate him off the PUP (physically unable to perform) list.
With the Seahawks coming in heavy favorites against the Rams on Monday Night Football, it’s no surprise that there is no rush to bring back Harvin. Carroll said Harvin is working really hard to get on the field as soon as possible:
“He’s a hard-charger and he’s not going to sit back. When he goes, he does, so we have to be sure and manage that. But we’re totally pleased with how he’s worked to get back. When we can do it, we will.” (ESPN.com)
The Seahawks currently sit at 6-1 and remain a top contender for the NFC crown with a Super Bowl trip on their agenda. The return of Percy Harvin, when it happens, will further strengthen their run towards the Vince Lombardi trophy.
