FFL Week 9 - Studs and Duds
- Updated: November 5, 2013
As the season starts nearing the end, the studs and duds become a little harder to decipher just because of injuries and bye weeks. Luckily, we’ve been pretty good and nailing them down. Without further adieu, let’s look at the players who shined or hid in week 9.
Studs
Andre Johnson, HOU WR - 9/229/3
You buying it? Remember when AJ was the best the NFL had to offer at the wide reciever position? Well if you don’t, he looked a lot like he did Sunday. Case Keenum, the former U of H star has taken the starting gig and done exactly what he did in college, throw a lot. Johnson’s reemergence to the fantasy spotlight has everything to do with the QB change. As long as Keenum is starting, buy it.
Zac Stacy, STL RB - 27 carries for 127 yards and 2 scores. He also added 6 receptions for 51 yards.
You buying it? 27 carries? Playing every down? Getting goal line carries? It’s like its 2005 in St. Louis. The rookie everyone raved about coming out the draft was Tavon Austin, but the one that everyone is talking about now is Stacy. In a league with no workhorse backs, Stacy is one. He’s legit. If you are playoff contender, you want this guy for the home stretch.
Nick Foles, PHI QB- 22 of 28 passes for 406 yards and 7 TD’s.
You buying it? Of course not, but what a performance.
Duds
Trent Richardson, IND RB - 8 carries for 20 yards. 2 receptions for 33 yards.
You buying it? I keep vouching for this guy. He’s the starting RB, they traded a 1st for him, eventually he is going to be that guy, right? Unfortunately, if you keep playing him and waiting for it to happen, you might lose. Keep him, but until he has that game, flex play at best.
Alex Smith, KC QB - 19 of 29 for 124.
You buying it? Alex Smith isn’t going to light up fantasy rosters unless it’s a fluke day. His passing yardage was that of a RB on a good day. Am I buying that he’s a dud, no. I am buying that he shouldn’t be your starter unless you have zero alternatives.
Justin Blackmon, JAC WR - On a BYE, got suspended.
You buying it? I know he didn’t play, but if you get suspended while on a bye after missing the first 4 games for the same infraction, you belong here.
