Tyson Chandler out 4-6 weeks with right leg fracture
- Updated: November 6, 2013
NEW YORK- The rough season for the Knicks just got rougher.
The team has announced that starting center Tyson Chandler will miss four to six weeks with a fractured right leg. Chandler suffered the injury early in the first quarter when he collided with Bobcats point guard Kemba Walker.
According to the Knicks, Chandler, who was the 2011 Defensive Player of the Year did not suffer any nerve or ligament damage, and will not need surgery. The injury is a non-displaced fracture of his right fibula.
The loss of Chandler means the loss of their defensive enforcer, and the Knicks will likely call upon Amar’e Stoudemire, Kenyon Martin, Andrea Bargnani, and Metta World Peace to play more in his absence.
