Jeter Headed To DL Once Again

New York- The Captain is headed back to the disabled list  with a Grade 1 Strain of his right calf, his 3rd stint on the DL this season for various leg ailments. Jeter who is 39 years old, has only played 5 games this season due to his twice fractured ankle, quad strain, and a calf injury.

When asked Monday whether he thought it was the right decision for the New York Yankees’ to place him back on the DL, Jeter said “Who am I to argue? You know what I mean? I know I am not going to play here for the next few days so they pretty much have no choice.” (ESPNNEWYORK.COM) The last time Derek Jeter had a calf injury was in 2011, missing 3 weeks prior to picking up his 3,000 career hit.

Jeter on the season is hitting .211 with 1 home run and 2 RBI’s said that the injury has been affecting the way he has been playing. He stated “It feels like you were hit with a ball or something.” (ESPNNEWYORK.COM)

Derek Jeter’s season hasn’t really gotten started. He was suppose to be ready by opening day but he re broke the same ankle he originally fractured in the playoffs the season prior. His debut got pushed back to just prior to the All Star Break but in his first game he injured his quad running the bases sending him back to the DL for the second and now the calf injury. Is this the beginning of the end for the long time captain of the New York Yankees’?
