Brooklyn Nets: Nets Introduce Offseason Acquisitions
- Updated: July 18, 2013
BROOKLYN- Brooklyn Nets introduce star offseason acquisitions.
At 12 PM EST on July 18th, 2013 the Brooklyn Nets conducted a press conference to welcome their 2013 offseason acquisitions which included Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry. Andrei Kirilenko was unable to attend due to personal obligations at his home in Russia.
Kevin Garnett who averaged 14.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game last year said that one of the main reasons he waived his no trade clause and agreed to be traded to the Nets was because of the “bones” of the roster. He feels that they can compete for a title. Kevin also said that the “Biggest question is going to be how we’re going to gel and make it work.” and ” In order for this thing to work people are going to have to sacrifice.”
Things everyone in Brooklyn can agree with. One thing that is for certain is that Kevin Garnett will bring much needed intensity to Brooklyn
Paul Pierce who averaged 18.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game last year on an eFG% of 50.2% was, to no surprise, very emotional due to the fact that he has spent his entire career as a Boston Celtic up until now. Though emotional, Pierce did not mind taking a shot at the inner city rival, New York Knicks
Jason Terry who averaged 10.1 points and 2.5 assists per game last season had very little time to speak at the presser. He did say though that he was excited to play for his “best friend” Jason Kidd and called himself “blessed and ready..and ready.” He’s obviously very excited.
