Rams Put A Beating On The Colts 38-8
- Updated: November 10, 2013
INDIANAPOLIS, In- The Rams under backup quarterback Kellen Clemens lead put up 38 unanswered points to start the game and the defense dominated only giving up a late touchdown and 2 point conversion. Clemens threw two touchdowns to rookie Tavon Austin and totaled 247 passing yards on just 16 attempts. The Colts could not get anything going on offense and the defense steadily gave up points. Andrew Luck could not hold on to the ball and the team showed no ability to run the ball again. The Colts are among the streakiest teams in the NFL with a win over the Denver Broncos and now a loss to the lowly St. Louis Rams.
The Rams started off with a defensive touchdown on a fumble return from Chris Long and Tavon Austin returned a punt 98 yards as well. The offense did not look spectacular but they got the job done with 2 passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown by Zac Stacy. Andrew Luck lost a fumble and threw 3 interceptions to only 1 touchdown. The team ran for only 18 yards including 2 yards by starter Trent Richardson on just 5 carries. The Colts had no rushing first downs and were 2-12 on third down. The Rams defense came up big even picking off backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. By forcing turnovers they gave the offense good field position to score even with quarterback Sam Bradford out for the year.
Looking forward the Colts(6-3) need to improve to keep their lead in the AFC South. The Rams(4-6) face 4 teams with winning records in their next six games and the playoffs are looking like a longshot but if they play like they did today they might have a chance. Trent Richardson has been awful for the Colts and that trade looks better for the Cleveland Browns everyday, Luck needs to get his Colts back on track next week against AFC South rival the Tennessee Titans and the Rams take on the banged up Chicago Bears.
