Kings sign Dustin Brown to 8-year extension
- Updated: July 18, 2013
LOS ANGELES- The Los Angeles Kings have signed their captain Dustin Brown to an eight-year, $47 million contract extension which will keep him as a king through the 2020-21 season. ”We weren’t built to win the Cup one year and then disappear,” Brown said. “Now it’s kind of all come into place in the sense that we’re all going to be going through this together.”
Brown has been a King throughout his nine-year NHL career and has been the Kings captain since 2008 and helped lift the Kings to the Stanley Cup Finals where the team defeated New Jersey in 2012 where he has a point-per-game player. Brown joins Jonathan Quick, Mike Richards, Jeff Carter, Drew Doughty and Slava Voynov as players who are signed through at least the 2018-19 season.
Brown has 181 goals, 207 assists and 452 penalty minutes in 641 regular-season games. He was an All-Star in 2009.
