Iowa St DB Deon Broomfield, Texas WR Mike Davis Take To Twitter After Dirty Play (VIDEO)
- Updated: October 4, 2013
During last night’s Texas vs Iowa St game, things got a little dirty. In the third quarter, with Texas leading 23-20, wide receiver Mike Davis took a cheap shot at Iowa State defensive back, Deon Broomfield’s knees. There was an uproar on social media calling for Davis’ ejection, as this happened very far from the actual ball play.
Following the game, Broomfield and Davis both took to Twitter:
Mike Davis really tried to take me out.

Mike Davis tried explaining his play, with several tweets:
I play to the whistle ….. Sorry I was taught that.

I don’t have a history of being a dirty player & have never been called one. The tape without knowledge of the circumstances is unfair.

I wasn’t aware it was a run. Check the tape & you can see our other WR is also blocking his defender. I did exactly what we are taught to

I did exactly what we are taught to do on a WR screen.

All that being said I am happy #26 was not injured. This is the last time I will address this topic. Longhorn Nation thanks for the support.

All the tweets, and in the end it was Texas narrowly defeating Iowa St, 31-30.
Watch the play here, you be the judge: dirty or not?
